Michele Andrasik is a clinical health psychologist. She is the Director of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Community Engagement for the Fred Hutchinson-based HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) and the COVID-19 Prevention Network (CoVPN), Senior Staff Scientist in the Fred Hutchinson Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division and an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Departments of Global Health and Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at the University of Washington. Her work focuses on addressing health inequities among Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and gender and sexual minority communities.
An expert in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), Historical Trauma and mixed methods research, Dr. Andrasik has led a robust Social and Behavioral Sciences research agenda for the HVTN for almost a decade. She has extensive experience working with communities and community organizations, both as a researcher and as a service provider. Prior to her doctoral training, Dr. Andrasik served as the Director of AIDS Services for a community-based HIV/AIDS service organization with offices in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Dr. Andrasik received her BA from New York University, Master’s degrees in Health Education and Psychological Counseling from Columbia University and a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Miami. Dr. Andrasik’s research focus is on HIV prevention and social and structural factors implicated in health inequities.
