Franziska Seeger

Novo Nordisk
Sr. Scientist
Dr. Franziska Seeger is a protein biophysicist who is passionate about applying data science to pressing problems in biomedicine. During her PhD, Franziska elucidated the activation mechanism of an important drug target for cardiovascular diseases. Her fascination for proteins and protein-protein interactions then took her to pursue a postdoc with David Baker at the Institute for Protein Design, where she engineered novel inhibitors against autoimmune disease targets. Franziska’s set of experiences covers a diverse range from consulting on protein biophysics and protein design with her own consulting agency to working at the interface of protein engineering and machine learning in tech. Most recently, she has taken her applied problem solving skills to Novo Nordisk (Seattle) where she currently works on protein engineering challenges in rare diseases as a senior scientist.

Outside of work, Franziska spends most of her time outdoors - running, road biking, (backcountry) skiing, or hiking/backpacking. If she is trapped inside, she enjoys practicing yoga, is an enthusiastic chef, and avid reader.
