Corey Edwards
Western Governors University Regional Director, Northwest
Corey Edwards is a visionary leader in higher education and entrepreneur. Named the Northwest Regional Director for Western Governors University in June 2020, Edwards helps guide the strategic direction of the nonprofit, online university and further raise its profile among prospective students and partner organizations across a nine-state territory.
Edwards also advocates for individuals of color as co-founder of Invizibee. Invizibee assists employers to attract, develop and retain black and brown professionals. As co-founder, he oversees partnership development, talent sourcing and recruiting, and retention and leadership strategies. The company’s purpose reflects Edwards’ personal mission to inspire and elevate a diverse and representative group of emerging leaders in his community.
Previously, Edwards served in several roles within the University of Colorado system. He was most recently the Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships for the University of Colorado Denver. In that position, he collaborated with industry leaders to establish jointly beneficial partnerships and ensure the university met crucial, workforce needs. He launched and led the University Partnerships steering committee comprised of decisionmakers from each school, college and key, on-campus business unit.
Before that, Edwards served as Director of Student Success for the Office of Digital Education at the University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus, where he managed the full, online-learning experience, including student recruitment, academic support and career services.
Edwards is an alumnus of the University of Northern Colorado, where he studied communication and journalism and received a master’s in sport administration. Additionally, he completed the University of Colorado's year-long Excellence in Leadership fellowship program and is currently a member of the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Denver 2020 class.
